I'm in love with a VOLUNTEER <3

5. (v. t.) To offer or bestow voluntarily, or without solicitation or compulsion; as, to volunteer one's services.
6. (a.) One who enters into service voluntarily, but who, when in service, is subject to discipline and regulations like other soldiers; -- opposed to conscript; specifically, a voluntary member of the organized militia of a country as distinguished from the standing army.

I'm in love with a soldier who continues to VOLUNTEER for OIF. His most unselfish act!! Even a dictionary couldn't define what he has done and continues to do for his country and our freedom. I'm blessed to have such an amazing man in my life. As we are all blessed to have such an amazing service member over there for all of us. I stand beside him on his choices and am very, very proud of him. But a little part of me hates it all at the same time. How can someone like me who is being so completely selfish be loved by a man who is completely the opposite. I pray every night for him to come home soon and I even find myself begging him on our cherished phone calls to pull himself out of there and just come home to me. We all know there is consquences to getting out of deployments whether you volunteer to serve or not. So how can I ask him to be punished and possibly lose everything he has worked so hard for? We have done the 15 month deployment and he should have been home this coming week. But he has volunteered himself an extra 6 months. I will continue to wait for his return and be his #1 support. I pray for his safe return along with all others and I pray that God gives me patience and takes away my selfishness.
